Course description
Do you have some experience with stained glass but want to hone your skills or embark on an ambitious project with support? This course offers an opportunity to build your confidence in your stained glass and copper foiling skills. If you have completed one of our full day beginner workshops this course is suitable for you to attend. Your tutor will provide templates if needed, but you will also explore design skills and creating templates, particularly for larger projects, with considerations for reinforcement, measuring and fitting where appropriate. Your tutor will demo various parts of the stained glass and copper foiling processes throughout the course, as well as engaging one-to-one with each student on the unique challenges and guidance for your design. If you would like help creating a template, please bring an appropriate size piece of paper to draw it on. We can store works in progress and supply boards up to A3 size, anyone working on a larger project will need to provide their own board and transport their piece to and from Creative Space each week due to space limitations in the studio. Most materials are not included on this course, providing the freedom for students to choose and purchase their own glass at sizes needed for their projects. You will be eligible for a 10% student discount at a local glass supplier during the run of the course. We will have some materials available for purchase during the course, but the size of glass and lead options are limited. Some consumables such as flux, cement, whiting and patina will be provided without charge. Tools are provided but feel free to bring your own if you have any favourites. Maximum of 6 students. Minimum age to attend is 16. Courses starts on Wednesday 19th Feb 2025, 1:30pm-4pm and runs for 6 weeks. Essential Info: Due to the use of lead it is recommended that pregnant women do not attend.
