Course description

Learn how to make beautiful jewellery in this introduction to silver clay jewellery master class. This workshop is ideal for beginners, and you'll get the chance to experiment with the clay and learn how to create nature-inspired jewellery. Silver clay is a magical material made from a non-toxic organic binder and recycled fine silver. Shape it easily using tools, textures and natural materials like twigs, leaves or shells. When the clay is fired, the binder burns away, leaving you with stunning solid silver jewellery. Guided by jewellery designer Rebecca Lucy, this is your chance to escape from the outside world and get creative! Over the course of the day you’ll work on two projects, a pendant and pair of earrings or two pendants which you'll take home with you. During the morning you'll create your first piece of jewellery which will then be fired in our kiln during the afternoon. After lunch you'll create your second project which will be fired by hand with a blow torch. What you'll learn: - An introduction to silver clay and its properties - Making moulds from natural objects like twigs, leaves and shells - Adding pattern and texture - Making shapes using cutters - How to fire and finish your magical creation using both a kiln and a kitchen torch The workshop is relaxed and friendly and runs from 10am-4pm with an hour lunch break. All tools and enough silver to make 2 small pendants or a pendant and pair or earrings is included in the price. By the end of the course you will have produced two beautiful pieces of silver jewellery to take home and enjoy, each with a free presentation gift box. *Please note that necklace chains and lunch are not provided*. You will be working with small items so please bring reading glasses if you need them, plus a hair band to tie back long hair during firing. About the teacher: Rebecca Lucy is a jewellery designer-maker based in the South West. She holds a Diploma in Art Clay and has taught Silver Clay Jewellery workshops since 2018. Rebecca loves nothing more than bringing like-minded people together to connect over creativity. With a background in archaeology and a fascination for ancient technologies, folklore, and the natural world, Rebecca weaves ancient techniques with the modern medium of silver clay
